Pretty Anonymous is a body of work that explores the female gaze, notions of beauty, the gendered body and contemporary feminism. It is in collaboration with Jacquelyn Marie O'Brien, a intersectional feminist sculptor who juxtaposes societally constructed views of masculine and feminine materials that the duo begins to dismantle our inherently patriarchal environment in her sculpture and fiber arts. Starr's work in this collaboration includes photography and performance art (performance photos courtesy of Aaron Long). This melding of like minds and unlike materiality emboldens the idea that we are all Pretty Anonymous.
